Care Guide

General Wood Care

All furniture develops a patina of fine scratches with use. Occasionally, an accidental nick or scratch occurs that is beyond the definition of patina and requires touch up. While it may not be possible to render such a scratch invisible, it's possible to make it virtually unnoticeable.

To touch up a scratch or nick, lightly dab the area pain from the original can. If too much paint is applied, wipe it off before it dries and try again. You can use a tiny artist brush or a foam brush for a very small imperfection. Once it dries, you may sand lightly with a 3m buffing pad.

Oil Finished Wood Pieces

To maintain the finish, clean the surface with a damp washcloth and wipe dry. For additional protection, there are many products on the market. Never use products containing ammonia on water base finishes.

Wax Finished Wood Pieces

When a piece has a wax finish, We recommend dusting with a soft cloth for daily care. You may also use approved furniture wax to maintain the wax finish as needed. Wipe up all spills immediately. Avoid placing near a direct heat source, as this may cause warping of the wood.

Laminate Pieces

Clean pieces using mild soap and water with a soft cloth and ensure to towel dry. Please use coasters and felt pads under desktop objects to prevent scratches and damage.

Lacquer Finished or Painted Surface Pieces

For day to day maintenance it is recommended to use a non-wax furniture polish or mild soap and water solution. Do not use care products that contain ammonia or silicone, as they will cut through the lacquer finish (over time) and damage your piece.

Leather Upholstered Pieces

Leather requires very little maintenance, however you should avoid direct heat and sun exposure as this may cause your leather pieces to fade and/or dry out. If leather begins to look dry, wipe down the entire piece with warm distilled water to add moisture.

For the following instances, please care for your leather pieces in the following manner:

OIL-BASED SPILLS: Blot with clean, soft cloth; the oil will be absorbed into the leather.

LIQUID-BASED SPILLS: Blot with clean, soft cloth. Go over the spot lightly with a diluted mixture of mild soap and distilled water. Wipe down the entire area around the spill and let air dry.

Marble Pieces

A high grade marble polish or gel is recommended to care for your marble items. Apply once every several months with a soft cloth and this polish will give a beautiful luster to your table. To clean spills, wipe with a damp cloth/sponge using a mild soap and water. Always towel dry your marble pieces and ensure coasters, trivets and felt pads are used under objects to prevent scratching.
